Human Interest
Hailed by The Sunday Times as “An intriguing musical concoction that doffs its cap to grunge, The Kinks, Iggy Pop and T. Rex”, East London band Human Interest are fast-forging a reputation as a thrilling emerging band in the UK. The four-piece, led by Cat Harrison and Tyler Damara Kelly, are signed to cult label Nice Swan Records (home to Sports Team, English Teacher, Pip Boom, Sprints) and recently dropped their follow-up EP to their 2022 debut, ‘Desire Paths’.
The recent six-track collection, entitled ‘Empathy Lives In Outer Space’, garnered support from The Sunday Times, DIY, Dork, CLASH, The Forty-Five, The Line of Best Fit, and Rough Trade. Now they’re gearing up for the Autumn release of ‘Smile While You’re Losing (An Audio Guide to Wellness) which was produced by Maschetzko who has previously worked with Orlando Weeks, Black Country New Road, and English Teacher.
On the live front, the alt-rockers have supported Self Esteem, Blur’s Dave Rowntree, Hinds, Tribes, Divorce, VLURE and HighSchool, as well as festivals such as Boardmasters, Dark Arts Festival, and The Great Escape. In addition to receiving multiple spins from Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 6, a New Music Fix Artist Spotlight feature, and landing a place on the Radio X playlist, they are regularly played on BBC Introducing London.
