Vic Galloway

Vic Galloway is an established and respected broadcaster, journalist and author based in Scotland. With over twenty years of experience he has presented weekly music programmes for the BBC, including 11 years broadcasting for Radio 1. He continues on BBC Radio Scotland every Monday night playing new and emerging music, offering exposure and live sessions to the country’s best acts first. He also regularly contributes to BBC 6 Music, presenting shows, documentaries and specials for the network. Over his years on air, he has been the first BBC presenter to exclusively play and give coverage to artists such as Franz Ferdinand, Biffy Clyro, Calvin Harris, Chvrches, Django Django, Young Fathers, Frightened Rabbit, King Creosote, Twilight Sad, Mylo, Twin Atlantic, Admiral Fallow and many, many more.

He has hosted a range of outside broadcasts, documentary series and podcasts across various radio and TV networks, including 7 years of the BBC's 'T in the Park' coverage, 'The Music Show' on BBC 2 Scotland and a BBC TV documentary on the ‘South by South West’ (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas. He also co-hosted ‘RAPAL TV’ on BBC Alba which featured Scotland’s brightest new talent performing live, and now makes programmes for the BBC iPlayer with recent specials on Belle & Sebastian and Twin Atlantic.

As a freelance journalist, he does work for newspapers and magazines including regular columns for the Sunday Herald as well as The Skinny, Dear Scotland and Clash. In the past he has also contributed to The Times newspaper and The List magazine. Vic is regularly invited to host and MC events, such as four consecutive years of the ‘Scottish Album of the Year’ Awards. For many years, he has compeered Edinburgh’s legendary Hogmanay celebrations, introducing acts such as Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit, Django Django, Young Fathers, Maximo Park and Chvrches onstage in front of up to 80,000 people. As a DJ, he has played in student unions, festivals and clubs across the UK, USA and Europe. His first book ‘Songs in the Key of Fife’ was published recently – all about music from the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland, telling the intertwining stories of KT Tunstall, The Beta Band, King Creosote, James Yorkston and the Fence Collective.
